Maths today was a measurement investigation. The tallest people have the biggest feet. Is this statement true?
This morning we had the Enviro Schools teachers Kauri and Kirsty come in and take us for maths. We learnt terms of measurement- grams, kilograms, metres, cubic metres and volume and used lots of different strategies to work things out.
We found out that around 8 little bags of chips fit into a big bag of chips. It is much better for the environment to use a big bag of chips and put them into containers. We also measured out the veggie garden and figured out the perimeter and volume! Our follow up task is to design and measure out our own veggie gardens! Thanks to Kauri and Kirsty for a fantastic maths session using real life contexts! Recount writing about Mothers Day! Once finished, partnered up to read their writing aloud. Positive feedback and positive feed forward, how could they make their writing better?
We are very lucky to have Quentin and Harold at school for Life Education this week. Today we looked at what a good friend is, what we need to stay healthy and we meet Harold!
Sports results will be shared every Monday morning. This morning Ellie, Jarrod and Chloe our footballer's, Toby and Yahni our rugby boys, and Sam our netballer, shared their team results. Well done everyone who played in the weekend! Playing a team sport and being part of a team teaches you lots of new skills physically, mentally and emotionally!
Welcome to term 2! Today for reading we read in pairs- "An interview with a glass of water." We are learning about the water cycle.
